Magickal Herbs - Bindweed (Morning Glory)

Bindweed
Planet Saturn
Element Water
Ruler: Sun, Apollo
Gender :Masculine
Magickal Uses for Bindweed
Bindweed vines can be used for binding spells (including handfasting) and for creating "bridges" and connections between realms.
I am told the bindweed can be substituted in any recipe calling for High John the Conqueror, root for root.
The seeds have been used in earlier times to induce hallucinations. They are toxic. Do not try this.

Opening
It is a plant of dawn and dusk and thickets and hedges  separating civilization from the wild wood. Hedge Bindweed’s magic lays in the places in between – thresholds and doorways – openings to the otherworld.
It is a good ally for hedgecrossers and spirit workers. Its persistent vines creating a connection or bridge to both worlds one is travelling between giving the safety of a return route.

Binding
Its flowers are too delicate to use, but the tangled vines can be put to work in binding spells for people, objects, or spirits.
Carry an amulet with the dried flowers to counteract negativity directed towards you from others
It also excels at smothering the intentions of others
Its flowers, and especially flowering vines, are useful in workings of Bewitchment and Fascination.
Success
The roots are the main part used in folk magic and Hedge Bindweed was one of the Native American conjurer’s roots. It is used as a substitute for High John the Conqueror Root and has the same magical properties of good luck, success, confidence in self, strength, and commanding power. It can be used anywhere in Hoodoo formulas calling for High John.
Protection
When experiencing an intentional psychic attack, write the attackers name on a piece of paper and burn it along with a handful of dried bindweed.
Place the seeds beneath the pillow to stop all nightmares

Love
With it's lovely flowers, heart shaped leaves, and clinging vine, the morning glory plant is definitely something to consider when constructing a love and/or relationship spell.
In the language of flowers, the morning glory represents affection.

Everyday witchcraft: - CW

Everyday witchcraft: - CW

Did you know that every time you attend a birthday party or are celebrating your own, you are performing or taking part in a witchcraft ritual?

Many people – especially the anti witchcraft movements don’t realize this.

Many will say but how can this be?

Well look at the below and see what you think:

CAST A CIRCLE

Gather round all its time to blow out the birthday candles - strange how this seems to resemble a formation of a circle, and after all isn’t that where witches do spells, circles?

RAISING ENERGY

Then it is the compulsory singing of HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU or some other related songs. However bad it might be some times. - Well how is energy raised for spell-work? Chants, songs. Go figure!

SPELL WORK

Now make a wish – focusing of intent, visualizing what you would like to manifest

Then blow out the candle – this is candle magick in its purest form, an intent is visualized, and by blowing out the candle the intent is sent out into the universe with the hope of the wish being granted

GROUNDING

time to feast – what better way to ground than a good old fashioned feast, birthday cake, good food drinks, family and friends.

So what do you think?

Hi and welcome to the magickal musings Blog

In My first blog I muse over the question:

If there is a triple Goddess why don't we hear about a Triple god?

Taking into the account the law of polarity, that is of balance, everything should be in balance
A triple Goddess and singular God seems to tip the scale for me personally

The triple Goddess is attributed to the phases of the moon, so too we can argue that the sun (attributed generally to the God) also has 3 phases, morning, noon and sunset.

How do you feel about this, I would be very interested in hearing more views on this matter
